Last weekend, we visited Seafest, a celebration by the sea full of delectable food and sea-themed fun, all across Plymouth’s waterfront. Organised by Plymouth Waterfront Partnership and Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, this free festival is a vibrant celebration of sustainably caught fresh fish and coastal culture. A big thank you to Lucien and Dan, who collaborated with us to capture this fantastic weekend! 🤝🎥 🌟 Sessions like this are made possible thanks to: 🌱 Ernest Cook Trust 💧 South West Water 🏘️ Sovereign Housing 🤝 With thanks to our partners: 🌳 Plymouth City Council / Forest Rising East End Development Trust 🌊 Plymouth Sound National Marine Park 🐚 Ocean Conservation Trust The Plymouth Sound National Marine Park Horizons project has been made possible thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, with £11.6million of funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Do You Love The Sea?

Do You Love The Sea?

Reflecting on their involvement in ‘Bridging Cultures: International Dialogues for Environmental Justice through Socially Engaged Arts Practice’, the Ocean City Influencers produced this video. In it, they share their learning, thoughts, questions and interpretations of the Calls to Action generated by their involvement in this international artwork, using their voice and creative vision to engage other young people in climate activism. Ocean City Influencers is a group of 10-17-year-olds using creativity to explore ocean activism and climate justice, and is funded by The Ernest Cook Trust, South West Water and Sovereign Housing. Bridging Cultures is supported by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture grant programme. With thanks to partners, the East End Development Trust, Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, The Ocean Conservation Trust and Plymouth City Council/Forest Rising.

We Hosted An Exhibition

We Hosted An Exhibition

This vibrant showcase brought together all of the work we created over the first six-months of the programme. It included everything we did with artists Trav and Lucien — learning how to run a film crew, make our own GIFs, design merch, and create work that speaks to us. Massive shout out to everyone who supported us along the way. This was more than an exhibition — it was a takeover 🔥

Waves of Change: Inside the First Months of Ocean City Influencers

Waves of Change: Inside the First Months of Ocean City Influencers

From October 2024 to March 2025, a group of young people from Plymouth came together to form the Ocean City Influencers, a programme developed in collaboration with Take A Part, to explore their connection with the ocean, climate justice, and environmental activism. Over the first five months, these young changemakers collaborated with local and national artists through dance, photography, film, drawing, and animation, building confidence and finding new ways to express their voices. Together, they’ve tackled big ideas like ocean literacy, climate change, and blue space access, creating a unique digital platform to amplify their message. This film captures the heart of their journey — from early workshops to the exciting build-up of their first public exhibition at KARST Gallery. Witness how creativity, collaboration, and care for the planet can empower a generation to make waves that matter. 🌟 The journey doesn’t stop here — the Ocean City Influencers will continue their work throughout 2025, growing their creative platform and deepening their presence within Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. This is just the beginning of a bold and brilliant movement led by young people. Who would your digital avatar be?

Who would your digital avatar be?

Today, we are sharing a #Throwback 🔙 to the beginning of the Ocean City Influencers project, when the OCIs explored the idea of Avatar creation as a way to become digital influencers.
The OCIs came up with superpowers ⚡🌀 for their avatars, imagining ways they could help save our blue spaces and all the creatures that call them home. While the OCI project evolved into a space where the influencers learnt how to use their personal voices to share their experiences, hopes and learning about our blue spaces, maybe these exciting avatars will make a comeback someday…
